1)  When do practices start, what times will we practice, and on what days do we practice
  • Practices will begin on December 10th. Available gym slots will be posted before December 6th under the REQUEST PRACTICE link.
  • Online gym and time slots are posted and selected by your coach.
  • Week nights slots are 6:00 pm, 7:00 pm and 8:00 pm. Saturday practices will be from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.
2)   When do games start and what days and times can we expect to play
  • Games start the week of January 7th, 2013. Regular season will conclude around February 16th with playoffs beginning around February 20th and concluding on Saturday, March 2nd.
  • Games will be played on week nights and on  Saturday mornings to complete the 10-game regular season schedule.
  • CFSA has reserved CFISD middle schools where we will practice and play most if not all of our games.  Coaches may schedule practice events at non-CFISD middle school facilities as needed due to convenience and availability.
3)  How are teams formed
  • Friendship and Select leagues choose their own team.
  • Girls league can choose their own teams, but if girls don't have a team they will be placed by school first, then if not enough players we will select the nearest school in proximity to fill out the team.
  • Example: Robison has 4 kids, Lamkin has 7, Ault 3, and Keith 2.  We will group Robision, Ault, and Keith together even though Lamkin is closer to Robision because adding Lamkin and Robison exceeds our 10 kid limit.  We try to avoid splitting kids up who attend the same school.  Splitting does occur, but only if the school has more than 10 children signing up.
  • Classic league will be formed the same as the example above.
4)  Where will the games be played
  • CFISD Gym Locations will include some or all of the 17 Middle School gymnasiums across the District. The specific gyms assigned to CFSA will vary throughout the season based upon availability. Please check the SCHEDULES link frequently for updates to game times and locations as they are subject to change.
5)  What costs do my registration fees pay for
  • Your registration fee pays for Officials and time/score keeper for 10 games plus playoffs, the use of CFISD gyms for games and practice which are $50 per hour, uniforms, equipment, championship and runner up trophies, championship shirts, and some minor registration fees  (ie. registration forms).

6)  What age group / division should I register my child for
  • Divisions are based on the following birthdates.  Please select the correct age division when registering.  You can always request your child to play up one division, but that request needs to go through your division commissioner.  Selecting the upper division during registration will not put him in the upper division.
Birth Date Falls between these dates Division (Girls & Co-Ed)

 7)  Will my child miss practices or games if they participate in the new Basketball Skills Program

  • The regular season game schedule will be developed to not have games on the nights that the Skills Sessions are being held (currently targeted for Tuesday evenings beginning January 8th). In addition, practice gym slots will be not be available for coaches to schedule practices that would conflict with the Skills sessions.
