LEAGUE PLAY STRUCTURE SUMMARY

Summary of Seasons:

• Winter Season (December thru March, ends prior to Spring Break)

Summary of Levels of Play:

• Classic Teams (Teams formed based upon school attended) 
• Select Teams (Teams formed based upon a Coach or Parent that organizes a specific team)
• Friendship Teams (Is a SELECT team that prefers to play less competitive teams, is subject to minimum participation numbers, teams formed based upon Coach or Parent that organizes a specific team and elects to play at a lower level of competition)

• Co-Ed (Teams comprised primarily of boys, competitive girls that want to play with the boys are eligible) Girls League (Teams comprised entirely of girls)
  
  

Age Divisions:  8U – 14U, HS (8U Division participates in Classic Level of Play only)

Summary of Registration Requirements:

• All registrants must meet the age criteria 
• All registrants must submit proof of birth (birth certificate) to registration unless proof of age is currently documented
• All registrants must complete and sign players sportsmanship contract

Summary of Registration Process:

• Individual players click on the appropriate Program, the age division, and follow the prompts through to checkout.
  Players associated with Select Teams will click on the Select Program, the appropriate age division, and follow the prompts through to checkout.
• Coaches of Select Teams, please register your team in the age division appropriate for the oldest player appearing on the roster.  Playing down is not allowed per CFSA Rules of Basketball.

LEVELS OF PLAY

The Classic Level of Play consists of teams formed by open registration process of players electing to play at this level.  Players are grouped by school/neighboring school(s) and age(s) to form Teams and participate in appropriate age division groupings. This level is appropriate for our 8U Division, and for rookies as well as players with intermediate playing ability.

The Select Level of Play consists of teams formed by players who elect to form a team, find a coach, and register as a team to compete in the appropriate age division grouping.  This level is for players and teams that desire to compete against other competitive players and teams.  The pace is generally faster at this level as compared to Classic and Friendship Levels of Play.

The Friendship Level of Play is associated with our Select Team program.  It consists of teams formed by players who elect to form a team, find a coach, and register as a team to participate in the Select program in the appropriate age division grouping with a preference to participate at the Friendship Level.  This level is appropriate for players wishing to play at a recreational level with their friends that are not necessarily desiring to compete at the select level.  While there may be skilled players participating at this level, generally, the objective at this level is enjoy the game at a recreational pace.  This level is subject to a minimal registration team count and will only be formed should minimum number of teams be reached.  Otherwise, Select Teams that prefer to play on the Friendship Level will remain in the Select Program in the Select Team Registration Team Count.

Friendship and Select Levels of Play also allow a coach to form a team consisting of players from within the Cy-Fair School District as well as with players from outside the District.

DIVISIONS AND TEAM FORMATION

Team Formation:
Classic Level Teams will be formed based upon the school attended per our CFSA Rules of Basketball.  However activities will be only be scheduled upon the assignment of the VOLUNTEER coach.  If a volunteer coach is unassigned, a parent must volunteer to serve as interim until a parent from the associated team player roster volunteers to coach.

Division Formation:
Divisions/Teams are formed and grouped by age as per Section 3 Team Organization of the CFSA Basketball Program Rules and Regulations.

The following age categories are used to form Divisions and Team within Divisions:

• Classic Teams:  8U, 9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, HS (15U – 18U)
• Select Teams:  9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, HS (15U – 18U)

REGISTRATION FEE SCHEDULE

Winter:  The Individual player registration fee is $175.00, includes a 10 game regular season, Post season playoffs, sponsored gymnasiums for practices, reversible game jersey, all-star team selections (Classic Level Only)

Summer:  The Individual player registration fee is $175.00, includes a 8 game regular season, Post season playoffs, sponsored gymnasiums for practices, and reversible game jersey.

Player and Team registrations are processed online.  Coaches, submit your roster, register your team online, and utilize an Invitation Code that you distribute to your players to be used during the registration process to join your team.

Registration may also be processed at the CFSA offices during normal business hours.  Please note however that this process will require establishing an account, entering information, and processing payment while you wait.
 
ELIGIBILITY AND REQUIREMENTS

Winter League Eligibility:  To participate in either league group, players must be between the ages of seven (7) years old and eighteen years old as of September 1st of the current year.

Summer League Eligibility:  To participate in either league group, players must be between the ages of seven (7) years old and eighteen years old as of May 1st of the current year. 

Athletes living or attending school within the CFISD or adjoining School Districts are eligible to participate.
 
Residents living within CFISD must register through the school they attend or should attend, based upon the address of their residence.  All others will be registered through the closest CFISD School.
