Baseball - Baseball Divisions

Cy-Fair Sports Association offers a variety of programs that help fit the majority of skill levels and desires of players of the game of baseball.  Here is a brief description of our programs.

  •  Metro Baseball - This is our traditional style of youth baseball.  The program and skill levels are for those kids who are just starting out playing baseball or have limited experience.  Once your child is registered online or through the office, our commissioners (volunteers from the community like yourself) form the teams from the same local schools whenever possible. They then look within the pool of kids for a volunteer coach who will organize the practices and lead the team in games.  Team name, practice times and locations are set by the coach of the team.  Once the season begins, games are played Monday through Thursday and on Saturdays (Weekday games are generally 6 or 8 PM for ages 9-18, 6 or 7:30 PM for ages 5-8 & 6pm for age 4. Saturday games are generally played all day) with rain outs scheduled on Friday nights if absolutely needed.  Each team is limited to no more than 3 events per week (Monday through Sunday).  Generally these teams will play less than 15 games a season.  Every player will receive an MLB replica uniform shirt, hat and socks with their paid registration.  Additionally each child is required to play a minimum of every other inning in a game.
  • AA - This is the next level in becoming a more competitive athlete.  These teams are formed by a Coach and are independent arrangements between the parents on that team and the coach, tryouts may be posted on our site.  Each team will pay a fee to play in the league and teams are responsible for their own uniforms, equipment, insurance, sanctioning fee, etc.  Many AA teams will enter tournaments, do some local travel and possibly go to a World Series event.  Please remember, this is a select arrangement, there are no guarantees, players may be cut, and there are no mandates for play time, but for league purposes, they must bat all players who attend the game.  Please interview your potential coach for anticipated time and financial requirements.  Generally these teams will play 20 to 50 games a season.  Register your AA team via the following link. http://www.usssa.com

  • Major - This is the most competitive level of baseball.  These teams are formed by a Coach and are independent arrangements between the parents on that team and the coach, tryouts may be posted on our site.  Each team will pay a fee to play in the league and teams are responsible for their own uniforms, equipment, insurance, sanctioning fee, etc.  Most Major teams will have a busy tournament schedule, do some local, out of town, and out of state travel and generally go to a World Series event.  Please remember, this is a select arrangement, there are no guarantees, players may be cut, and there are no mandates for play time, but for league purposes, they must bat all players who attend the game.  Please interview your potential coach for anticipated time and financial requirements.  Generally these teams will play 75 to 100 games a season.
  • 18U - This division is comprised of a variety of kids ranging in age from 13-18 years of age.  You will find 8th grade, 13 & 14 year olds that are looking to see play on high school size fields and get ready for high school tryouts and high school age players that are not on their school team that have a desire to continue the game of baseball.  In this division, the younger and older players are mixed between the teams so the older players can be mentors to the younger ones just embarking on the high school scene.
  • Summer - Our summer league is an opportunity for all variety of players to get into the mix.  It is designed for all those kids that aren't going to family for half the summer to have something to do.  Only the Metro divisions are offered, and the ages are generally mixed.  6U is 4, 5, and 6 year olds, 8U is 7 and 8 year olds, 10U is 9 and 10 year olds, 13U is 11, 12 & 13 year olds, but is played by 12U rules, and 18U is for ages 14-18.  It is played on weeknights with a more relaxed atmosphere and provides an opportunity for Metro, Select, and Elite level players to mix on a team.

Please remember AAt, AAA, and Major teams are personal relationships between individuals.  CFSA is not responsible for any activities of a team or their management.  It is the individuals responsibility to watch www.usssa.com for issues of player history and team history that may effect the eligibility of a player to play a different level.  It is also the individuals responsibility to watch www.usssa.com for rules and regulations that may impact your child's ability to play baseball.  In the event of poor financial management of a team, the team and all of its players will be held responsible for any financial issues created by the team.
